Support calm nights and deeper sleep with this gentle Magnesium Butter, specially formulated for children aged 2 years and up - and also safe for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Magnesium is a much-loved natural remedy for sleep difficulties, helping to relax the nervous system by binding to GABA receptors, which encourages the body to unwind and settle for rest.
Applied topically, this butter allows magnesium to absorb through the skin, offering a more direct and effective alternative to oral supplements, which can be impacted by digestion. It’s ideal for use before bed, promoting better sleep while also easing muscle cramps, growing pains, and pregnancy related tension.
Magnesium plays an essential role in overall health and wellbeing. It supports sleep, digestion, mood, immune function, cardiovascular health, bone strength, and more. Many people are deficient due to modern diet, stress, or medications, making a daily topical application an easy way to top up.
Please note: this is a butter, not a balm. In warmer months, it may melt! Store it in a cool place to keep it firm, and allow it to solidify again if needed.

Trouble sleeping? Finding The Right Sleep Aid
Sleep Struggles? These Soothers Might Just Save Your Sanity 😴 There’s nothing quite like the hopeful moment when you lay your baby down to sleep… followed by the crushing sound of a whimper, shuffle, or full blown cry. If your little one finds it hard to settle, or just can’t seem to stay asleep - a good sleep soother could make all the difference. White noise and gentle sound machines help to mask the everyday background noise that can disturb your baby’s rest. Think: older siblings, barking dogs, or the neighbour deciding now’s the time to mow the lawn. These soothing sounds - like a heartbeat, waves, or soft shushing - mimic what baby heard in the womb, helping them relax and drift off more easily. We’ve curated a handy Quiz to help you make a decision, plus a small but mighty collection of trusted sleep soothers and calming aids below, that can help take the edge off bedtime - for both you and your baby. YogaSleep Hushh 2 White Noise Machine Compact, rechargeable, and seriously effective — the YogaSleep Hushh 2 is the sound machine you’ll wish you bought sooner. It offers several soothing sound options (including the classic white noise hum, surf, and gentle fan) and lets you customise volume and tone. The real standout is the glow-in-the-dark nightlight — gentle enough not to disturb baby, but just right when you’re fumbling for the dummy at 2 a.m. With a simple clip for attaching to prams, car seats or bassinets, this is your go-to for sleep on the move. Or, just clip it to your sanity and go about your day. No judgement here. YogaSleep Nod Sound Machine and Night Light The YogaSleep Nod is the ultimate stay-at-home sleep station — perfect for setting up a consistent, calming bedtime routine in the nursery. It features 20 sleep sounds, including white noise, fan sounds, lullabies, and nature tracks, so you can tailor the soundscape to your baby’s preferences. What makes it a standout? The built-in nightlight, which emits a warm amber glow to create a peaceful sleep space without overstimulating your baby. You can also set sleep timers or run it all night long — ideal for little ones who are easily stirred. Simple, soothing, and super customisable, the Nod helps create the kind of sleep environment you’ll both appreciate. Sleepytot Portable White Noise Machine & Nightlight If you’re looking for a multi-tasking marvel, the Sleepytot Portable White Noise Machine ticks a lot of boxes. It has a built-in rechargeable battery (USB charging = no more hunting for AAs), multiple white noise sounds to choose from, and a soft nightlight built in. Whether you’re heading out for the day or just trying to settle baby at home, this little helper is easy to toss in the nappy bag and use wherever you are. Simple to use, easy to love — and surprisingly effective when nothing else seems to be working. The Baby Shusher Sloth You’ve heard of the Baby Shusher — now meet its adorable new friend Shusher Sloth! This sweet sloth still uses the same rhythmic “shhh” sound that mimics a parent’s voice and taps into your baby’s natural calming reflexes. It’s a surprisingly effective technique (and one backed by science, not just tired parents). The sloth’s cuddly design means it doubles as a comfort toy, and the shushing sound is timed to switch off after 15 or 30 minutes — giving you a bit of peace without draining the battery. With a built-in timer and innovative sound activation, Shusher Sloth can listen for your baby’s cries and respond by soothing them back to sleep. Bonus: it’s small enough to take on the go, and far less exhausting than manually shushing for 45 minutes straight. Storytime and Soothing Light for Sweet Dreams Another beautiful way to support your child’s sleep is by building a calming, familiar bedtime routine – and the CloudBox™ helps make that easy. This clever little device plays comforting bedtime stories while gently projecting sleepy visuals onto the ceiling or wall. You can choose from the preloaded stories or record your own – a lovely way to keep bedtime personal, even when you can’t be there in person. Repeating the same story or image each night can become part of your child’s sleep ritual, providing a sense of security and consistency they can count on. Simple to use and designed for children from birth and up, the CloudBox™ is a thoughtful addition to any nighttime routine – helping little ones feel calm, safe, and ready for sleep. Learn moreTummy Time for Baby's Development
Tummy Time: Why It Matters (and How to Make It Easier) Tummy time is one of those things you hear about early on in parenthood - right up there with sleep routines, feeding cues, and learning to drink a hot cup of tea while it's still warm! It’s recommended for your baby’s development, but the reality is, many little ones aren’t too thrilled about it at first. The good news? There are ways to make it easier for both of you. Before we get into the tips and tricks, let’s take a quick look at what tummy time actually is, and why it matters so much. Why is tummy time important? When your baby spends time on their tummy (while awake and supervised), they’re doing more than just working those tiny muscles. Tummy time plays a key role in helping to: Strengthen their neck, shoulders, arms, and back Support healthy motor development (like lifting their head, rolling over, and eventually crawling) Prevent flat spots on the back of their head (also known as positional plagiocephaly) It’s also laying the groundwork for milestones down the track. Chiropractor Dr Ainslee explains that, “Research has confirmed that tummy time not only helps children meet gross motor milestones like crawling, walking, and jumping. It also supports their social, cognitive, and learning development later in life.” So, what counts as tummy time? Tummy time doesn’t always have to mean placing your baby directly on the floor. It’s any time your baby is tummy-down while they’re awake and being supervised. Dr Ainslee puts it beautifully - it’s about “handling a baby in a way that naturally facilitates the development of interactive head control.” That means there are lots of ways to fit tummy time into your daily routine - even in those early newborn weeks. Gentle ways to start tummy time If your baby isn’t loving tummy time just yet, that’s okay. Start small and keep it gentle. Chest-to-chest: One of the easiest and most comforting ways to begin. Lie back and place your baby tummy-down on your chest. Skin-to-skin adds even more benefits. Football hold: Hold your baby tummy-down along your forearm, with your hand supporting their tummy and your other hand under their head. Keep them close - this one’s great for newborns. Across your lap: Another simple option that gives your baby some tummy time and lets you sneak in a burp or a cuddle. Baby expert Dorothy Waide encourages parents to start early, even just for a few seconds at a time. “The sooner you start, the quicker baby will adapt. If you begin with short bursts after each nap, you’ll soon find your little one starts to enjoy it more and more.” Making tummy time fun Tummy time doesn’t have to feel like a chore - for either of you. The more engaging it is, the more likely your baby will stick with it (and enjoy it too!). Try: Getting down to their level: Lie on the floor beside them, chat, sing, or just keep them company. Using mirrors or books: A mirror or a high-contrast board book placed in front of your baby can be fascinating for those curious eyes. Sensory toys: Toys like this Farm Activity Playmat are designed to make tummy time more exciting. It includes a removable cushion, a flip-up mirror, a delightful 3D farm animal, a squeaker animal, a teething toy, and an array of textures to touch and feel, making it an ideal companion for endless fun and learning. Supportive gear that can help The Little Bee by Dimples Baby Lounger is a handy tool for tummy time. It’s designed with a gently raised end that gives your baby the right angle to strengthen their upper body muscles in a supported way. The flat end provides a comfy space for rest - so it’s a multitasker. The Doomoo Softy is another great tummy time option — especially for younger babies. Drape your little one over the soft cushion so their arms and chest rest on it. It gently raises their upper body, helping them lift their head and build strength without feeling too flat on the floor. Plus, it doubles as a comfy feeding or lounging cushion when tummy time’s done. The takeaway? You don’t have to do it all at once — and your baby doesn’t have to love it right away. Like most things in early parenthood, tummy time is a journey. Start slow, keep it playful, and know that every minute counts. If you’re looking for supportive products to make tummy time easier, explore our collection of sensory play mats, baby loungers, and purpose-designed tummy time toys. You've got this.

Learn moreWhen Pets Meet Babies
Welcoming Your Baby and Fur Baby Together 🐾👶 For many families, pets are our first “babies” – loyal companions who’ve shared the couch, the bed, and plenty of milestones. So when a new human baby comes along, it’s natural to worry about how everyone will adjust. The good news? With a bit of preparation and kindness, your pet and baby can build a beautiful bond from the very beginning. Start with Your Pet’s Personality 🐶🐱 Every animal is different, and how you prepare depends on your pet’s species, temperament, and past experiences. While goldfish or guinea pigs usually require little adjustment, cats and dogs can be more sensitive to the changes a baby brings – new sounds, smells, routines, and less attention. If your pet hasn’t spent much time around children, consider slowly exposing them to baby-related sounds (like crying or giggling) using recordings beforehand. This can help desensitise them and reduce anxiety once baby is home. A Gentle Introduction is Key Before baby arrives, introduce your pet to baby items like the pram, cot, or bassinet. Let them explore at their own pace so these new additions don’t feel overwhelming later. You can even go for practice walks with the pram to help your dog get used to the change. When baby comes home, offer your pet something with baby’s scent – like a swaddle or hat – before the first face-to-face meeting. For dogs, initial introductions should be calm and ideally on leash, in a neutral space like the front yard. For cats, allow them to approach in their own time and retreat when they’ve had enough. Reward your pet for calm, gentle behaviour with treats or praise to create positive associations with baby. Safety First – Always 💛 No matter how friendly or socialised your pet is, never leave them alone with your baby. Even well-meaning pets can act unpredictably when startled or stressed. Cats may try to jump into the bassinet to cuddle up, which can be dangerous. Consider using a cat net over the cot or keeping the nursery door closed. For dogs, teach them to respect baby’s space and avoid licking or nudging the baby. Once your baby becomes mobile, always supervise interactions and start gently teaching respectful handling – this not only keeps everyone safe but helps your child grow up with empathy and confidence around animals. Create Safe Spaces for Everyone As your household routine shifts, pets will appreciate having a quiet, baby-free zone to retreat to. Use pet gates or closed doors to keep their food, bedding, and litter trays separate. This not only protects your pet’s resources but keeps curious toddlers away from things they shouldn’t be touching (or tasting!). Make sure escape routes like cat doors are secure, and create high perches or quiet corners where your cat can safely observe without feeling overwhelmed. Managing Allergies and Cleanliness Pet hair is a common allergen, and while it’s impossible to know if your baby is sensitive right away, there are a few preventative steps you can take: Vacuum regularly (a pet-specific vacuum can help). Bathe or groom your pet as advised by your vet. Keep pets off nursery furniture and out of the baby’s sleeping space. Consider using an air purifier in high-traffic areas. It’s also a good idea to wash baby’s hands after contact with your pet – especially once they start crawling! Don’t Forget About Your Pet’s Routine ❤️ Newborns take up a lot of time and energy – and pets can sometimes feel left out. Sticking to familiar routines, like walks, feeding times, and play, helps them feel secure. Enlist friends or family to help out with dog walking or play sessions, especially in those early weeks. Cats benefit from mental stimulation too – puzzle feeders or interactive toys can be great for independent play. Some parents also find that having their pet involved in small baby routines (like sitting nearby during nappy changes or walks in the pram) can help strengthen the bond early on. Growing Together: A Bond Like No Other With time, patience, and gentle consistency, your baby and fur baby will adapt to each other – and may even become inseparable friends. Watching them grow up side by side is one of life’s simple joys 🥰 If you’re getting ready to welcome a baby into your home and have questions about creating a calm, safe space for both little ones and furry friends, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the team or pop into your local Dimples store – we’re always happy to help.
