A great thing about an online registry is that it keeps track of what items have been purchased, so you’re not going to end up with twenty nasal aspirators from everyone at your baby shower. The name and price are both shown clearly next to a photo of the item, so there’s no confusing it for anything else. Whether you’re a first-time parent or adding to your growing family, setting up a registry can make the entire experience smoother and more enjoyable.
If you’re overwhelmed with questions on what your child wants for their birthday, a registry can help steer your loved ones in the right direction. Add items that they like throughout the year: that toy they won’t stop asking for, the next book in their favourite series, that cute t-shirt you saw on Instagram - by the time the birthdays and holidays roll around, you’ll have the perfect list ready to go.
If you’d prefer to keep your registry to yourself, simply follow all of the same steps without sharing it at the end. Then you’ll have your very own guide to help you get ready for your little one’s arrival.
How To Set It Up
1. On the Dimples website, select “Start Registry” in the top right corner. If you're on mobile, click on the three lines in the top left corner, then "Registry".
2. Select “Baby Registry” under “Type of Gift List”.
3. Fill out your details.
4. If you'd like, add a co-registrant (your partner, a friend or family member who's organising your baby shower).
5. Choose your privacy settings. Would you like it to be searchable, or found via link?
6. Done! Your registry is created, and you can find it by logging in on our website, under your Registry ID, or via the confirmation email you were just sent.
Now, you can browse and add items, both on the Dimples website and elsewhere. Take a look at these checklists for some items that you might like to add.
How To Add Items to Your Registry
1. Go to the page of the product you would like to add.
2. If you would like a specific colour or size, make sure to select those options first, then click "add to registry".
3. A small new window will open, with options to categorise your items and add notes (preferred colours).
4. Once added, you can manage your registry or keep looking, and the window will close.
You can also add items to your registry using the My Registry app. If you’re in store, you can use your phone camera to scan the product barcode or take a photo of the item to add it to your registry.
What's Next?
• Share it with your friends and family. You can simply copy and paste a link (which you can customise!), or send it directly via Instagram, Facebook, or Whatsapp. There is also the option to use an eCard, but these can be a bit slow to send.
• You can, if you'd like, create a cash gift fund through myregistry.com. Take note though: they do charge a handling fee, and it only works via Paypal, which also charges a transaction fee.
• If you feel like making any edits, you can find and manage registries on our website under "registry" > "learn more".
• Add your items! If you’re not sure where to start, try these handy quizzes. Car seats and strollers can take time to arrive, so it’s great to sort out what you want nice and early.
