Overview
The Love to Dream Swaddle Up is the original and first-of-its-kind swaddle that lets your baby sleep comfortably with their arms up. Formerly known as the Wrap Me Up, this design allows babies to self-soothe while still feeling secure.
Unlike traditional swaddles, the Swaddle Up keeps your baby wrapped while giving them access to their hands. This makes it a great choice for little ones who dislike being tightly swaddled or for parents who prefer a more natural arms-up position.
If your baby is still experiencing the startle reflex but loves sucking on their hands, the Swaddle Up keeps their hands in place for self-soothing while ensuring they stay snug all night long.
It’s also an excellent option as you transition away from swaddling. Babies can adjust to having more movement without losing the comfort of being wrapped. For catnappers or older babies who resist nighttime wrapping, this design offers the benefits of swaddling without restricting freedom.
The 1.0 tog Swaddle Up is best suited for room temperatures between 20°–24°C.

Welcome to Fatherhood: New Dads and Dads-to-Be
Congratulations, Dad First off, huge congratulations! You’re about to embark on one of the most rewarding journeys of your life. Whether you’re a first-time dad or this is round two (or three!), there’s no denying how incredible this experience will be. Sure, it might come with a few sleepless nights and some unknowns along the way, but trust us – it’s going to be amazing.Fatherhood isn’t about being perfect – it’s about being there, learning as you go, and embracing every moment, big or small. You’ll have days filled with firsts, plenty of laughter, and some truly special memories. And remember, it’s okay if you don’t have everything figured out – you’re not alone on this journey. We’ve put together some helpful tips and advice to support you as you navigate these early days, so you can feel confident and prepared. The road ahead is exciting, and you’re going to be a wonderful dad. Let’s get started – you’ve got this! Support During The Pregnancy Journey Pregnancy brings plenty of changes – not just for mums, but for you, too. You might not be the one carrying the baby, but your support can make a huge difference. Here’s how to be the kind of partner your family will thank you for later. Start by learning and getting involved Understanding pregnancy helps you feel more confident and prepared. Check out a few articles, read a few books or dive into an online course for new dads. It can also be incredibly helpful to attend check-ups, which will keep you connected and informed. Ask questions, take in the details, and get to know your baby’s journey. Pick up a few extra chores As the bump grows, so does the to-do list. Take on more housework, drive to appointments, and let your partner rest. Don’t be afraid to ask for help – teamwork makes it easier. Get involved with meals Food might be a bit of a rollercoaster during pregnancy, so try to help where you can – cooking, meal planning, or just making sure there’s something in the fridge that actually sounds good today. And if your partner suddenly needs a very specific brand of ice cream at 9pm… well, that’s your time to shine. Be steady during the ups and downs Hormones can make emotions more intense. Be patient, listen well, and remember: sometimes just being there is enough. Look after your own wellbeing It’s easy to put your own needs on the backburner, but your mental health matters too. Talk openly with your partner, ask lots of questions, and check in with how you’re feeling. A calm, supported dad makes a big difference to the whole family. Think ahead Before baby arrives, research and get organised: Choose and install the car seat (Dimples can help with installation and advice) Set up baby’s space (even if they start in your room). Stock up on nappies, wipes, swaddles, and clothes. Merino is the ultimate in newborn clothing. Learn more about this here Cook and freeze a few meals – thank yourself later! And remember, you don’t need to have it all figured out. Just show up, learn as you go, and be there when it counts. You’ve got this – and feel free to sneak in a dad joke or two (just maybe not at 3am). Now... Baby Has Arrived! Bonding with Your Newborn Studies show that active involvement from dads helps with emotional development, cognitive skills, and even reduces stress for both baby and parents. Bonding early on lays the foundation for a strong relationship as your little one grows. Here are a few ways to bond: Skin-to-skin contact: Take a moment to strip down and let your baby lie on your chest. This helps regulate their body temperature and heartbeat, while also releasing oxytocin, the "love hormone," for both of you. Talk and sing: Babies love hearing your voice. Even if you're off-key, read books, sing, or narrate your day ("Time for the big diaper change!"). Your voice will comfort them. Wear your baby: A baby carrier is an easy way to keep your newborn close while you move around. The warmth and motion strengthen your bond, and it gives you some extra dad points. We love this one by Nuna - we stock a few different kinds of carrier. Our store can help you with this if you want to pop in. Support Mum’s Healing The first weeks after birth can be tough for mum. Give her space to heal, and take charge of housework and meal prep. Whether it’s cleaning up, tidying, or letting her nap, your support will help her adjust and feel cared for. Taking Care of Yourself Parenting is a team effort, so don't forget to take care of yourself. Get rest when you can, eat well, and ask for help if you need it. You’ll be much more equipped to care for your little one if you're taking care of your own well-being. Finding Your Routine In the early days, life with a newborn can feel chaotic. Establishing a simple routine will help everyone feel more secure. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but having a basic rhythm for naps, feedings, and bedtime makes things easier as you go. Trusting Your Instincts You might not have all the answers, but trust your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, speak up. You’ll figure it out along the way – you’re learning every day, and that’s enough. Accepting Help There’s no need to do everything yourself. Accept help when it’s offered – whether it’s a meal from a friend or a family member taking over a diaper change. It’ll make this journey smoother for everyone. Connecting with Each other And Celebrating the Small Wins Parenting is full of big milestones, but it’s the little victories that count too. Celebrate your baby’s first smile, a good night’s sleep, or the first successful outing. These moments are worth appreciating. Parenthood can be all-consuming, but it’s really important to find time for your relationship with your partner. Even simple moments, like enjoying a coffee together, can help you stay connected and grounded amidst the chaos. A Few More Tips Swaddle like a pro: Swaddling can help soothe your baby and improve their sleep. Merino or cotton is the best option. See our range Here Change bag: Keep a change bag handy: Have nappies, wipes, and a spare outfit packed and ready – you never know when you'll need them. Here are a few options for change bags at Dimples. And most importantly: Have fun! Parenting is a learning experience, so embrace it – and don’t forget to build your dad-joke repertoire! Learn moreNatural Clothing and Allergies
The best clothing choices for allergies Soft, natural, gentle Babies’ skin is soft, gorgeous – and sensitive. When they’re young, their skin is much thinner and more permeable than that of an adult, which is why it’s so susceptible to irritation and dryness. Although all babies have delicate skin, some have more serious skin conditions like eczema, hives, and other irritations. These increasingly common conditions can be caused or exacerbated by food allergies, and environmental triggers like laundry powders, soaps, and clothing. While the right clothing can’t cure eczema or allergies, it can help reduce the symptoms and make your baby more comfortable. Soft, natural fibres, organic fabrics, chemical-free processing and quality craftsmanship can help. Here’s what to look for: Naturally gentle Eczema-prone skin is irritated by harsh fibres and heat. Synthetic fabrics and thick weaves – like denim or hand-knitted wool – can trap heat, rub against the skin, and make symptoms worse. Look for clothing made of soft, naturally breathable fabric like cotton, linen, and hemp. Although thick wool can be irritating, finely woven merino clothing is gentle enough for most eczema-prone babies. In fact, because merino helps wick away moisture and regulate temperature, it can actually help reduce skin irritation caused by overheating. Choose organic Because babies’ skin is so permeable, it can absorb harsh chemicals from clothing. That’s why it’s important to choose organic fabrics as much as possible. Conventional cotton crops are treated with a range of pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides while they’re growing. No matter how much you wash clothing before wear, traces of these chemicals can remain in the fibres and transfer to your baby’s skin, potentially causing allergic reactions or general irritation. Avoid the issue by choosing pure, certified organic cotton as much as you can. Soft colours for soft skin During processing, cotton and other fabrics may be bleached, dyed, and treated with chemicals like softeners, fire retardants, and wrinkle or stain guards. These chemicals are designed to stay in the fibres of the fabric, which means they end up pressed against your baby’s skin, potentially triggering eczema flare-ups or irritation. Often, high-quality organic cotton and merino products are made without these chemicals to avoid these issues, and some manufacturers will list clothing as allergy-friendly or chemical-free. If you’re unsure, choosing white or undyed organic cotton or merino is the best option. Made with care Good craftsmanship is just as important as quality materials. Cheaply made baby and children’s clothing is often ill-fitting, with rough seams and scratchy labels – all highly irritating to sensitive skin. Quality clothing, on the other hand, is designed to fit comfortably. Look for clothing without tight sleeves, elastic at the cuffs, or high necklines – these can all chafe and irritate sensitive skin. Seams should be sewn flat and labels should be printed on the fabric or easy to remove. Go natural for extra care Whether your baby has allergies or not, you can’t go wrong choosing gentle, natural, soft clothing. You’ll keep them warm and comfortable, avoid harsh chemicals, protect their skin, and reduce the risk of irritation. At Dimples, all our baby clothes are made of natural fibres, with quality craftsmanship, comfortable, classic designs and minimal chemicals used in processing. Take a look now.
Learn moreSummer Sleep
Keeping your baby safe and comfortable when it’s hot Summer brings holidays, beach trips, swims and sunshine – but it also brings higher temperatures, which can be hard on your baby’s sleep. Make sure you’re ready by organising your baby’s room, sorting out summer clothing and bedding, and being aware of summer sleep safety while you’re out and about. Cool, comfortable, controlled Babies sleep best at 18-20 degrees Celsius (use a room thermometer to keep track). In the summer months, a baby’s room can rise above this temperature very quickly, even without direct sunlight. Fortunately, there are a few ways to keep your baby’s bedroom cool and comfy. If you have air conditioning or a heat pump with cooling function, simply set it at the right temperature before baby’s bedtime, so the room has time to cool down. If you don’t, a small fan can help with temperature and airflow – just don’t point it directly at your baby. Bonus – the noise of a fan can help some babies drift off. You can also keep the temperature down by leaving the windows open and curtains closed – this lets air circulate, but keeps sunlight out. Just remember to use mesh screens to prevent mosquitoes and other insects coming in. The best baby bedding Summer bedding is pretty straightforward. You’ll need light cotton sheets for the cot, bassinette, or Moses basket, and not much else. Depending on the temperature, your baby may need a cotton top sheet or a light muslin sleeping bag as well. Avoid synthetic fabrics, as these don’t breathe, and can make babies sweaty and uncomfortable. If your baby is very young and still needs to be swaddled, use a thin cotton swaddle , and consider leaving their legs free to regulate temperature. As always, keep unnecessary toys and blankets out of the bed. Clothing choices For clothing, think loose, light, and cotton. Depending on the heat in your house, your baby can sleep in just a nappy and singlet, or a light sleepsuit. Avoid synthetics, and keep everything loose and breathable. If you’re not sure, check the back of your baby’s neck – if it’s sweaty or hot, remove a layer of clothing or bedding. Out and about Summer means outings and disrupted sleep schedules. If your baby is happy to sleep in the pram or car, you’re lucky – but don’t forget to think about the temperature. Prams can get hot and airless very quickly, so park yours in the shade if your baby is asleep. Carry a mesh pram cover or light muslin throw for extra shade, but always leave an opening to allow air to circulate in the pram. Never use a heavy blanket or cover, as this could prevent airflow – which can be dangerous. In the car, use a sunshade over the window to keep direct sunlight off your baby’s skin. Crack a window or use the air conditioning to keep air flowing inside the car, and never, ever leave your baby asleep in the car alone. The temperature can rise to dangerous levels extremely quickly, even with a window open. Keeping your baby cool and comfortable should help them sleep better and feel happier during the day – so you can both enjoy the fun parts of summer. Get sorted for summer with Dimples’ range of clothing, bedding, and sleep accessories.

The Power of a Bedtime Routine for Your Baby Simple rhythms that can make bedtime calmer – for both of you In the early weeks with a newborn, life seems to find a rhythm all on it’s own! Feeds, naps, cuddles and nappy changes all blur into one another, and having anything that resembles a routine can feel a little out of reach… Don’t worry – that’s totally normal. As your baby grows, you might start to notice more predictable patterns start to emerge. This can be a lovely time to gently introduce a baby bedtime routine - a simple series of calming steps that helps signal to your little one that that the day is coming to an end. It doesn’t need to be complicated. In fact, some of the best bedtime routines are the simplest ones. Why a Bedtime Routine Matters Babies LOVE familiarity. Repeating the same gentle activities each evening can help your baby begin to recognise that sleep is coming, while creating a comforting transition between the day’s activities and bedtime. A bedtime routine can also be a really special opportunity to slow everything down together, creating a sense of calm, security and connection. And while your bedtime routine will naturally change as your baby grows, those familiar little rituals can continue well into childhood. When Should You Start a Bedtime Routine? There’s no exact age when you have to start. During the newborn stage, feeding and sleeping are naturally quite unpredictable, so there’s no need to worry about a strict schedule. From around six to eight weeks, you will probably notice your baby becoming more predictable, and you can begin introducing a few simple bedtime cues if it feels right for your family. At first, your routine might simply be a fresh nappy, sleepwear, a feed and a cuddle. You can always add more as your baby grows. How to Start a Baby Bedtime Routine There’s no “perfect” bedtime routine - what works beautifully for one family might not work at all for another. The important things are keeping it relatively simple, calm and consistent. Around 20 to 30 minutes is usually plenty, and where possible, try doing the final part of the routine in your babes room so they begin to associate that space with winding down and sleep. Here’s a simple bedtime rhythm you could try: Bath A warm bath (or shower with you!) can be a lovely way to end your day together. Keep the lights soft if you can, slow things down and let bath time become part of the transition from playtime to bedtime. Massage After the bath, a few minutes of gentle baby massage can be incredibly calming and is a beautiful opportunity for some quiet bonding time. You could use a baby massage product such as Scullys Massage Oil, or keep things very simple with Loloma Coconut Oil. Keep the movements very slow and gentle, talking quietly, humming or singing to your baby as you go. Over time, even the smell and feel of their usual massage can become another little signal that bedtime is approaching. A Little Extra Wind Down Support For particularly restless little ones, you may also like to add something like Magnesium Rescue into your bedtime routine. Magnesium can help regulate the nervous system, promote muscle relaxation, and support the production of melatonin. The important thing here is the ritual itself. Whether it’s massage, moisturising or simply a quiet cuddle after their bath, repeating the same calm steps each night is what helps make bedtime feel familiar. Sleepwear Changing into cosy sleepwear is another simple but powerful bedtime cue! Choose soft, breathable layers that are appropriate for the temperature of your baby’s room. Merino is one of our favourites for sleep because it makes layering easy throughout the year. Our baby sleepwear collection includes merino bodysuits, babygrows, gowns and other cosy layers for bedtime. 💛 Dimples Tip: Your baby’s room temperature is much more useful than the season when deciding what they should wear to bed. Feel their chest or back to check whether they’re comfortably warm rather than relying on their hands and feet, which can naturally feel cooler. Feeding For younger babies, a feed will naturally be an important part of bedtime. As your baby gets older, you might like to experiment with offering their final feed slightly earlier in the routine rather than making it the very last thing before sleep. Some families find this helps separate feeding from falling asleep. But don't stress if your baby loves feeding to sleep, especially in those early months. Every baby is different and your routine can evolve gradually. A Story or Song This is one of our favourite parts of a bedtime routine. Your baby certainly doesn’t need to understand the story yet to enjoy listening to your voice. Reading the same book each night, singing a lullaby or simply humming quietly can become a wonderfully familiar sleep cue. Reading together from an early age is also such a lovely habit to establish, and our children’s book collection has plenty of beautiful first books to choose from. One day they'll be choosing the bedtime story themselves - and probably asking you to read it agaaaaiiiin! Cuddles & Goodnight Finish with a cuddle, a quiet goodnight and plenty of reassurance. It sounds so simple, but that same kiss, phrase or cuddle each evening can become one of the most familiar parts of your baby’s bedtime routine. And even if you know you’ll probably be seeing them again in a few hours, it’s still a lovely way to finish the day together. Watch for Your Baby’s Sleepy Cues One of the best bedtime tips we can give is to watch your baby rather than becoming too attached to the clock. Yawning, rubbing their eyes, staring into the distance, becoming quieter or suddenly getting a little fussy can all be signs that your baby is getting tired. Starting your bedtime routine when you notice these early sleepy cues can often make settling easier than waiting until your baby is overtired. Create a Calm, Sleep Friendly Nursery As bedtime gets closer, gradually make the house feel a little quieter. Dim the lights, turn the television off and put away stimulating or noisy toys. These small environmental changes can become part of your baby’s bedtime cues too. A dark room is ideal for sleep, but a gentle night light can be super handy while you're feeding, settling or changing nappies overnight. 💛 Dimples Tip: Once bedtime begins, keep voices quieter and movements slower. Babies pick up on our energy surprisingly well, so turning your pace down can help make the whole room feel calmer. Putting Baby Down for Sleep As you get to know your baby, you may like to experiment with placing them into their sleep space when they're sleepy but still awake. Some babies take to this beautifully. Others need plenty of cuddling, rocking or feeding before they're ready to settle - particularly when they're very young. There's no need to turn bedtime into a battle. The aim of a routine is to make sleep feel calm and predictable, not to achieve a perfect settling technique. What works for your baby today may also be completely different in a few months time. Be Consistent, But Stay Flexible Consistency helps babies recognise their bedtime cues, but flexibility is just as important. There'll be evenings when your baby is overtired. There'll be illnesses, holidays, late dinners, visitors and nights where absolutely nothing goes according to plan. That's parenting! Rather than worrying about following your routine perfectly, think about having a few familiar rituals you can return to wherever you are. A fresh nappy, familiar sleepwear, the same book, a cuddle and your usual goodnight might be all your baby needs to recognise that it's bedtime. If more than one parent or caregiver can occasionally do the bedtime routine, that's great! It helps your baby become comfortable settling with the other special people in their life. And Don't Forget About Mum Once baby is finally settled, it can be surprisingly difficult to switch your own brain off. After spending all day feeding, changing, remembering, organising and looking after somebody else, having a tiny bedtime ritual of your own can be just as valuable. Make a warm drink, put your phone down, have a shower or simply sit somewhere quiet for ten minutes. For mums who enjoy something cosy before bed, Mamma's Milk Bar Moon Milk can become part of your own evening wind-down ritual. Prepare yourself a nice warm cup and enjoy a quiet moment once your little one is settled. Small Rituals With Lasting Benefits Your baby's bedtime routine doesn't need to be elaborate, and it certainly doesn't need to be perfect. It's simply a collection of familiar little moments that tell your baby: the day is finished, you're safe, and it's time to rest. Some nights it might be bath, massage, pyjamas, feed, story and bed. Other nights it might be clean nappy, feed, cuddle... bed. Both count! As your baby grows, the routine will grow with them. The massage might disappear, they'll choose their own pyjamas, and eventually they'll be the one reading the bedtime book. But that cuddle and goodnight kiss? That will still matter - even if one day you have to sneak them in after lights out. ❤️
