The Secrets of Dimples Merino, Natures Miracle
Marvellous merino and how to care for it
Dimples high-quality merino is made in NZ and designed to last – treat it with love and care and it will stay looking good.
Why Merino?
Merino wool truly is nature’s miracle – it has warm, soft breathable fibres that will keep your little one comfortable year-round.
It takes a while for a baby to develop effective temperature regulation and they can't tell you if they’re too hot or cold. That’s where Merino clothing and sleepwear comes in. Insulation flows through little pockets of air created within the fabric, this allows baby to keep in the warmth on colder days and cools them down in the heat
Other benefits of Merino:
- Naturally hypoallergenic, and good for little ones with eczema, allergies or sensitive skin
- Stain resistant
- Naturally flame resistant
Absorbs moisture yet dries quickly - Keeps its shape - it stretches and grows, springing back into shape after each wash.
Made to last
Our Dimples Merino garments are hand sewn and embroidered with care by our amazing team in New Zealand. Dimples clothes are made to last and be passed down for years to come. To help with the longevity of your Merino garments and keep them looking their best, it’s important to take care of them.
How to wash Merino
Be sure to check the care tag for any specific washing instructions.
Do not soak. Instead, for stubborn stains, use Sard Wonder Soap – simply wet the stain in cold water, rub Sard on the stain, and agitate and rinse thoroughly.
Use Earthwise Wool & Delicates or other approved wool detergent. Don’t pour detergent directly onto the fabric as this can cause discolouration. Instead, dilute your washing detergent before putting it into your washing machine. Use the recommended amount of detergent – more does not mean better!
Be aware that just because a product is labelled ‘eco’ or ‘green’ it’s not necessarily suitable for Merino. And not all ‘baby wash’ is suitable either. Some laundry powders contain eco-brighteners which can bleach and cause holes.
Use the wool wash cycle on your washing machine.
If hand washing woollen garments: gently hand wash in cold water, rinse well, gently wring and dry flat in the shade as direct sunlight will cause discolouration.
Do not bleach, rub, soak or tumble dry. Cool steam iron. Dry cleanable.
How to dry Merino
Do not tumble dry. Lay garments flat in the shade. Direct sun can cause damage and discolouration.
How to store Merino
Dimples merino contains no chemicals which can make it appealing to moths. If you’re not going to use a garment for some time, wash and dry it first and then store it in a sealed garment bag or container.
Be aware of clothes moths
If you do notice tiny holes in a garment act quickly to save it by popping it in a bag and into the freezer for at least 72 hours. This should kill off any clothes moth larvae and then you can re-wash.
