What is a Capsule?

An infant capsule is a form of child restraint that is suited for newborn babies until they have reached the maximum height and weight provided on the capsule by the manufacturer. The usual size for babies in capsules is 13kg. Your baby can keep using the capsule safely so long as they weigh less than 13kg and their shoulder level is at or below the slot where the shoulder strap comes out of the capsule. At Dimples the range of capsules and base combinations we offer are installed by either seatbelt or ISOFIX installation. Both seatbelt and ISOFIX installation allow you to install the base into your car so you can safely click your capsule into the base. It is important to make sure you baby is reclined enough when they are travelling in their capsule, many bases will offer different recline positions. When baby is a newborn, they do not have the muscles to give them any neck strength. If they are not properly reclined there is the risk of baby’s head falling forward and cutting off their airway. Capsules are not recommended at a safe place for your baby to sleep from long periods of time. It is recommended to not allow your baby to sleep in their capsule for longer then a period of 90 minutes.
