Caring For Your Merino

Protecting your merino from moths is important to be aware of. These little creatures love wool and if you don’t take the correct precautions, they will begin to eat away at your lovely merino garments. Because Dimples merino contains no chemicals this makes our wool a particular favourite for them. No need to fear! We have some great preventative tips to ensure this doesn’t happen to your merino.

Wash your Dimples merino garments before storing them away.

Store all your merino in a sealed garment bag or container

If you have noticed tiny holes in a garment already no need to stress yet there is still time to save it. Simply freeze the item to kill the larvae then re-wash.

Dimples merino is designed to be passed down for years to come. To help with the longevity of your Dimples garments, we make sure our customers are aware of the best way to care for their merino. Using an approved liquid wool detergent or other trusted product is essential. Options we suggest are ‘Softly’ or ‘Lux Flakes’, using a wool wash cycle on your washing machine is also a great option to keep your merino at its best. It is important that you don’t soak or wash your woollen garments in powdered laundry products. Eco-whiteners are a product to be wary of too, they may still bleach your garment creating spots and holes.
